For registered NDIS providers, wherever you are starting from.
Sole traders and small teams through to multi-site organisations. audito adapts the documents, the roadmap and the preparation to your registration groups and your stage.
Registering with the NDIS Commission for the first time.
You are applying for registration and need a complete set of policies, procedures and records, plus an initial audit.
What is hard
- Knowing which registration groups lead to which audit
- Writing a full document set from scratch
- Showing an auditor you are ready to deliver safely before you have many records
How audito helps
- Audit type and modules worked out from your groups
- Up to 208 documents, only the ones you need
- A roadmap built for first registration
- Evidence checklist so you know what to have in place
Your roadmap starts like this
Becoming a registered NDIS provider
- 1Choose your registration groups
List the supports you will actually deliver and match each one to a registration group. Only register for groups you are ready to deliver, because each group and module adds audit time and cost. If any group needs certification, your whole application follows the certification pathway.
- 2Set up the business basics
Get your ABN and business structure sorted, and set up a business bank account and PRODA account. Arrange public liability, professional indemnity and workers compensation insurance that covers NDIS supports. Choose the systems you will use for records, rostering and secure storage.
- 3Check the registration requirements
Open the Registration requirements checklist to see what the NDIS Commission and your auditor expect for your groups and audit type, such as worker screening, insurance, qualified workers for each group and, for certification, an on-site audit. Tick each item off as you get it ready.
- 4Complete your set-up
Work through every set-up step: your business details, registration groups, the services you deliver, roles and your settings. Your answers decide which documents you get, so answer the yes or no questions about medication, mealtimes, money, vehicles and restrictive practices carefully.
- 5Generate and tailor your documents
Generate your document set and read each policy, not just the titles. Change anything that does not match how you really work, because auditors check that you do what your documents say. Use the User Manual (CORE-GDE-03) as your guide.
+ 10 more steps in your roadmap.
Already registered, with an audit coming up.
You have documents and some records. Your mid-term or renewal audit is on the calendar, and you want to know where you stand.
What is hard
- Documents that drifted from how you work now
- Records that are incomplete or hard to find
- Staff who have not seen the policies since induction
How audito helps
- Policy gap check on the documents you already have, by email
- Corrective action tracker for your last audit findings
- Self-assessment and evidence checklist to find gaps
- Mock audit with team rehearsal links
Your roadmap starts like this
Registered and preparing for my next audit (mid-term or renewal)
- 1Confirm your audit dates
Check your certificate for your registration end date. Certification providers need a mid-term audit that must start no later than 18 months into the registration period. For renewal, start about 6 months before your registration ends. Put both dates in your calendar.
- 2Review changes since your last audit
Check what has changed in the law and standards, such as the July 2026 changes for SIL and digital platforms and new record-keeping and claiming rules. Update your documents where needed.
- 3Check your set-up is still accurate
Update your set-up if your services, groups, workers, sites or systems have changed. Regenerate documents that are affected and approve the new versions. Notify the NDIS Commission of changes in scale or key personnel as required.
- 4Close out previous findings
List every non-conformity and observation from your last audit. Gather evidence that each one is fixed and still working, because auditors usually check them again.
- 5Complete your internal audit and management review
Run your Internal Audit Program (CORE-FRM-27) and record a Management Review Report (CORE-FRM-19). Show what you learned from incidents, complaints and feedback and what you improved.

Changing your scope, and what it means for your audit.
You want to add registration groups. Some changes keep you on verification; others move you to certification or add a module.
What is hard
- Working out whether your audit type changes
- Adding the right documents without starting again
- Preparing for a scope audit
How audito helps
- Tick the new groups and see the effect immediately
- Only the additional documents are added
- Roadmap steps for a change of scope
Your roadmap starts like this
Adding registration groups
- 1Decide which groups to add
Confirm the new supports you want to deliver and the registration group for each. Check whether the new group changes your audit type or adds a supplementary module, for example Module 1 for high intensity supports.
- 2Check you are ready to deliver
Make sure you have workers with the right skills and qualifications, insurance that covers the new supports, and any licences or professional registrations the group needs.
- 3Update your set-up
Add the new registration groups and answer any new questions. This adds the documents and standards that now apply to you.
- 4Generate and tailor new documents
Generate the extra policies, forms and module documents. Tailor them to how you will deliver the new supports and train your workers on them.
- 5Talk to your auditor
Ask your approved quality auditor whether the variation needs an out-of-cycle audit. Adding a group that brings in a new module or moves you from verification to certification usually does.
+ 4 more steps in your roadmap.
Supported independent living, high intensity supports and behaviour support.
Your supports bring in one or more supplementary modules on top of the Core Module, each with its own outcomes and evidence.
What is hard
- Knowing which modules apply and what each adds
- Separating tenancy, housing and support arrangements for SIL
- Evidence for high intensity supports and behaviour support plans
How audito helps
- Documents for supplementary Modules 1, 2, 2A, 3, 4, 5, 5A
- Module 5A (assistance with supported independent living) covered
- Self-assessment includes module standards
- Mock audit covers the site visit and participant interviews
